Functional Tests

Non-invasive functional tests may be suggested to help me get to the root-cause of your condition and also monitor results. It can be very motivating to measure specific health parameters and I can discuss if you would benefit from this with you. Prices range from £50 - £500 depending on the specific test. If the test is something the GP could do, then a referral letter would be written. However, unfortunately the NHS does now cover some more complex tests that can provide great insight into the root cause of your symptoms.

Functional Tests include:

  • Food Intolerance IgG Test – identifying potential food sensitivities, elimination of which can help many conditions.

  • Adrenal Stress Indicator – measures imbalances associated with ailments from obesity and chronic fatigue to immune deficiency and increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

  • Female Hormone Profile – providing information about menstrual irregularities, infertility and osteoporosis.

  • Comprehensive Gut Health – evaluates digestion and absorption, bacterial balance and metabolism, candida and immune status for patients with IBS, indigestion and other gastro intestinal related problems.

  • Liver Check – a starting point for those concerned about liver health and for anyone concerned about their alcohol consumption, is overweight, or on long term medication.

  • Homocysteine Test – an important indicator for heart health, as well as raised levels being strongly linked to adverse brain conditions such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Functional testing is not always recommended, however if it is but is out of your price range, then I would use your case history and clinical experience to ensure the protocol given will support you back to health.

The labs I use include: Genova Diagnostics, Bio Lab, DNA Fit and Thriva
